The Auburn Tigers have been doing some damage on the 2009 recruiting trail already, leaving fans wondering how their crosstown rivals are doing. Well, let this serve as notification.

The Alabama Crimson Tide and head coach Nick Saban are doing just fine so far in 2009, folks. In fact, they’ve already received three top-flight verbal commitments.

So let’s talk a little bit about these fellas.

D.J. Fluker: This 6-foot-7, 325-pound defensive tackle from Foley High School in Alabama runs the 40-yard dash in 4.9 seconds. What’s more, he’s both athletic and powerful: Fluker can bench press 375 pounds and squat 525 pounds.

Yikes!

Finally, the 78 tackles and seven sacks he put up last season as a junior in high school indicate that on top of everything, this four-star prospect is productive. The Tide got a great one in Fluker. Now let’s see if they can hold onto him.

Darius McKeller: The 6-6, 280-pound offensive tackle from Jonesboro, Ga., is the son of ex-NFL tight end Keith McKeller, who played 12 seasons for the Buffalo Bills.

Kellen Williams: Williams, a 6-5, 298-pound offensive tackle from Snellville, Ga., runs the 40-yard dash in 5.2 seconds and benches 340 pounds. See anything to like in those numbers? Saban did.

Williams should be a good one.
