Sure, the Penn State Nittany Lions are considered Linebacker U., and for good reason. That said, there are plenty of linebackers who have come through Tuscaloosa, Ala., who are worth talking about.

Derrick Thomas, Cornelius Bennett and Keith McCants are just some of the names.

If Alabama wants to get back to being in the SEC and national title hunt on a regular basis, possessing some terrific linebackers wouldn’t be the worst place to start. And the coaches seems to agree, as they're going after an excellent in-state one.

His name is Tana Patrick, a 6-foot-3, 215-pound five-star inside linebacker from North Jackson High in Stevenson, Ala. Of course, there are plenty of linebackers whom Alabama is going after, so why mention Patrick?

Well, he’s put up 175 tackles over the course of the past two seasons in high school, for one. He also so happens to run the 40 in 4.5 seconds, bench presses 295 pounds, and squats a whopping 555 pounds.

Wondering where all of those tackles are coming from? Look no further than his legs.

Right now, Scout considers Patrick the second-best SLB in the country. When you look at the total package, that’s no surprise. Still, there are plenty of potential suitors for him.

Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, Nebraska, South Carolina, USC, Tennessee and Texas A&M are all courting Patrick, in fact.

Still, Patrick seems enamored with the Tide as much as anyone.
