Back injury ends Mitchell’s Bama career

On Thursday, Alabama head coach Nick Saban said that senior cornerback Lionel Mitchell has been placed on medical scholarship thanks to chronic back problems, ending his college football career.

Commentary: Mitchell was unable to participate in spring practice because of the back problems. He had four interceptions as a sophomore and one last season. All told, he made 10 career starts for the club.
