Oaks Christian School (Westlake Village, Calif.) tight end Chris Coyle gave his verbal to Arizona State on Saturday for the 2009 class.

The 6-foot-3, 235-pounder, a Rivals three-star prospect, chose Tempe over several schools, including UCLA, Washington, Washington State, Boise State, Air Force and Army. Secondary coach Greg Burns is credited as Coyle’s primary.

COMMENTARY: The seventh commitment for coach Dennis Erickson’s '09 class, Coyle is the first tight end to commit. He also is the second Californian to commit in two days; he follows defensive back Osahon Irabor, an Upland native.
