Quentin Groves was one amazing speed rusher off the end for the Auburn Tigers during his college football career. In fact, someday soon the NFL is going to reward his outstanding play with a fat contract and Sunday career.

What’s the saying? Out with the old and in with the new? Let’s put it this way: If Cameron Henderson proves to be even close to as good as Groves was, bringing him to Auburn will be viewed as a huge score.

Cameron Henderson is a 6-foot-5, 240 pound weakside defensive end from Birmingham, Alabama (Shades Valley High School) that runs the 40 yard dash in 4.7 seconds. What’s more, he’s also a guy that bench presses 270 pounds and squats 400.

As a junior in high school, Henderson managed 45 tackles and six sacks.

On one hand, Henderson could use some technique work. On the other, he’s got an extreme upside because of the agility he plays with and the height he possesses. As a high schooler, Henderson proved to be good in pursuit and was able to blow through the line with both power and speed. Further, he seems to have the frame to gain weight, which is something he’ll need to do at the next level.

Saying more about his athleticism is the fact that Henderson was also a very good high school basketball player.

In the end, Rivals.com had him coming in at number nine amongst weakside defensive ends in the country. What’s more, he fell in at number 13 on their 2008 Alabama prospects list.

Cameron Henderson should be a good one in the future for the Auburn Tigers, especially considering he’ll have some time to learn from guys like Antonio Coleman and former defensive end Sen’Derrick Marks.
