To say the least, defensive lineman Sen’Derrick Marks was impressive during his football career with the Auburn Tigers. So impressive, in fact, that he has decided to forgo his senior season of eligibility with the club in order to try his hand in the NFL.

"I've had a great experience during the last four years at Auburn," Marks said. "However, I feel that it's in my best interest to enter my name into the 2009 NFL Draft. It's always been a dream of mine and I feel that I'm ready to advance to the next level.

"Auburn is, and always will be a special place to me. I want to thank all of my coaches at Auburn for giving me the opportunity to play college football and get an education. The Auburn family and my teammates have always been very supportive of my family and me, and for that I'm very appreciative."

Of course, coaching changes likely helped him to make his decision to leave early. Regardless, let’s take a look at what Marks has accomplished and how it may help his draft stock.

Height: 6-foot-1
Weight: 295 pounds
40-yard dash time: 4.93
Projected position: Defensive tackle

Prior to joining Auburn, Marks accumulated 81 tackles and 17 sacks as a senior at Vigor High School in Prichard, Ala. He also put up 87 tackles and 11 sacks as a junior. Marks was a three-year starter at both the tackle and end positions and managed 15 points per game as a starter on the basketball team.

2006: Marks made the coaches' freshman All-America team in his first season with the Tigers and was named a first-team freshman All-American by Rivals. He put up 38 tackles, including 11 for a loss, on the season.

2007: Marks amassed 43 tackles, including nine for a loss. This was his best season as a Tiger.

2008: Marks started 11 games, ending a rather disappointing season with 32 tackles (10 for a loss). Plagued by injuries all year, Marks made second team All-SEC as voted by the coaches.

Draft prediction: Marks is a very athletic player who, when healthy, can create havoc in opponents’ backfields. He proved himself well in the SEC, even if this past season was somewhat of a disappointment. Though Marks could get stronger with another year in college, the NFL brass will come to believe that this will happen once he starts playing on Sundays.

Figure that Marks will definitely be a first-day selection. In fact, he could go as high as early in the second round with some good pre-draft performances.
