The Auburn Tigers' new head football coach, Gene Chizik, and his cohorts have done an excellent job convincing big-time prospects to join the program despite a disappointing 2008 campaign.

It would seem important to get to know three of the more high-profile players -- Dontae Aycock (running back), and wide receivers DeAngelo Benton, and Emory Blake -- who decided to jump on the Tiger bandwagon on national signing day.

Blake, a 6-foot-1, 194-pounder out of Austin, Texas, runs the 40-yard dash in a respectable 4.6 seconds. Of course, the real story on Blake is that he amassed strong numbers in high school.

As a sophomore, Blake pulled in 28 balls for 525 yards and four touchdowns. As a junior, the receiving stats were similar (22 grabs, 412 yards and five scores). But then you add in his 289 rushing yards and two touchdowns, and the improvement becomes more obvious.

As a senior, Blake was outstanding, catching 64 passes for 936 yards and nine touchdowns. He also rushed the ball 74 times for 643 yards and six more scores. In other words, he can catch the ball and take it to the house.

Which is exactly the kind of receiver Auburn needs. The best part for Tigers fans is that Blake is just one example of the talent the new coaching staff has been able to secure.
