Though Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher is clearly unhappy with his contract, he still decided to show up for mandatory minicamp on Friday.

Commentary: "When it says mandatory, you're supposed to be at those things, so that's why I'm here," Urlacher said. "I'm supposed to be here. I'm not trying to send any message. It's a mandatory team function and we're supposed to be here."

Urlacher has voiced his displeasure with a nine-year deal due to expire after the 2011 season on numerous occasions. Further, he had not previously participated in offseason conditioning drills and volunteer workouts. His decision to show up at minicamp is seemingly a step in the right direction for the team.
