The Chicago Bears have signed second-round pick, DB Devin Hester and fourth-round pick, LB Jamar Williams to four-year contracts.

With these signings, the Bears now have five of their seven 2006 NFL draft picks signed, with second-round CB Danieal Manning and third-round DT Dusty Dvoracek still unsigned. Chicago joined San Francisco and Washington as the only teams that have signed five of their selections.

Hester, a versatile athlete from the University of Miami, is set to play in the defensive backfield for the Bears, and could play in nickel or dime situations as a rookie. However, the 5-10, 190 lb Hester could have his greatest impact on special teams. During his career at UM, the electrifying speedster averaged 25.5 yards on 40 kick-returns and two touchdowns and averaged 15.6 yards on 41 punt-returns with four of those reaching the endzone. He also blocked a pair of kicks on special teams.

Williams, an Arizona State product, is a versatile linebacker that can play weakside or strongside and can even line up in the middle. The 6-0, 250 lb Williams has impressed Chicago's coaching staff with his intelligence and adaptability during minicamp. As a three-year starter for the Sun Devils, he totaled 256 tackles, 25 tackles for loss, six sacks and four forced fumbles.
