Chicago Bears training camp update through 7/30:

Thomas Jones for Ashley Lelie?

Rumors are swirling that a possible trade is in the works to send Thomas Jones to Denver for disgruntled wide receiver Ashley Lelie. While it's true the Bears would benefit greatly by adding a deep threat to lineup alongside Muhsin Muhammad, this would put immense pressure on second-year running back Cedric Benson by making him the unquestioned No. 1 back. If the trade does happen, Jones would join an already crowded backfield in Denver.

Lance Briggs back with first-team defense

After working with the second unit for the first two days of training camp, Pro Bowl linebacker Lance Briggs was back with the first team for the Saturday night practice. After skipping voluntary offseason workouts during a modest contract dispute, Briggs was demoted to the second team. According to GM Jerry Angelo, contract extension talks will resume after the season.

Mark Bradley vs. Bernard Berrian

Since the beginning of training camp, wide receivers Mark Bradley and Bernard Berrian have both split time practicing with the Bears' first-team offense, both starting opposite Muhammad. According to the Bears' Web site, Bradley has looked good, showing no ill effects of tearing his ACL last season in Week Nine. Berrian comes into camp wanting to prove he is a solid No. 2 option, not just the team's primary slot receiver.
