LAKE FOREST, Illinois - The Chicago Bears released Jonathan Quinn on Tuesday, cutting the veteran quarterback loose after three ineffective starts.

The Bears signed Quinn last year, hoping he'd be a solid insurance policy in offensive coordinator Terry Shea's system. Quinn had been a reserve in Kansas City when Shea was the quarterbacks coach there, and knew Shea's complex system. But Quinn, who became a starter after Rex Grossman suffered a season-ending knee injury in the third game of the season, was ineffective.
