Bengals sign Peko to five-year extension

The Bengals came to an agreement with DT Domata Peko on a five-year contract extension worth $29.3 million.

Peko, a fourth-round draft choice in 2006 out of Michigan State, started all 16 games last season for the Bengals.

Commentary: Peko is Bengals coach Marvin Lewis' centerpiece in his restructured run-stopping defense. A young and able performer, the Bengals will ask a lot out of his strength against the run in order to improve on a defense that finished 21st in the NFL last season on the ground.
