Quarterback Craig Krenzel will be joining the Cincinnati Bengals this season. Last week, the Chicago Bears made the decision to waive Krenzel. On Monday, June 20th, he was claimed by the Bengals.

Krenzel played college football for Ohio State. He started for the team for two years. In 2002, he led his team to a 14-0 record as well as the national championship. He became a fifth-round draft pick out of Ohio State in 2004. At that time Krenzel was drafted by the Bears where he spent his first NFL season

In his first and only NFL season, Krenzel played in a total of six games. His NFL career got off to a great start with three straight victories. He became the first Bears quarterback to do so in almost forty years. Krenzel ended up completing a total of 59 out of 127 passes for the season. His completions led to 718 passing yards and three touchdowns. However, he was also intercepted six times. His season ended when he injured his ankle in a game against Dallas on Thanksgiving Day.

Although Krenzel started his career with three straight wins, the final two games in which he was a starter were losses. So seven months after becoming the first Bears quarterback in about 40 years to start with three straight wins, Craig Krenzel was waived. By being picked up by the Cincinnati Bengals, Krenzel has the opportunity to return to the state where he played college football and where he led his team to a national championship.
