Buffalo placed TE Kevin Everett on the waived/failed physical list with the NFL on Wednesday, ensuring medical benefits will be paid to the third-year player who suffered a serious neck injury last season.

Everett collided with Broncos' return man Domenik Hixon in Week 1, severely dislocating his third and fourth vertebra. Doctors originally feared Everett would never walk again, but he made significant improvement immediately after the injury. Everett is now eligible to receive $224,000 a year for the life of his injury, which he wouldn't have received if he was on the active roster.

Commentary: Everett's story is bittersweet, and the fact he can walk on his own now is nothing short of miraculous.

Fantasy Impact: None
