At his press conference on Wednesday, Buffalo Bills head coach Mike Mularkey was defiant when asked by reporters if quarterback J.P. Losman would start on Sunday. He was quoted as saying, "I'm not going to talk about any starters for either team." Sources out of Buffalo are now reporting that backup quarterback Kelly Holcomb will likely get the start against the Miami Dolphins. If this speculation comes to fruition, it will be among the most questionable moves made by the Bills in a long time. Why shatter the confidence of your young quarterback by sending him to the sidelines after just four games? Even though J.P. Losman has struggled, the best thing to do is to think about the future and let him continue to play through the adversity. It's clear that the Buffalo Bills don't care about the future success of Losman if he isn't given a proper amount of time to develop into a solid quarterback.

Maybe out of some miracle, Kelly Holcomb can step in and lead this 1-3 Bills team to the playoffs. However, believing that he can lead a team to a championship is nothing more than a pipe dream. At the moment, the Buffalo Bills don't have an offensive line or a defense capable of orchestrating a Super Bowl run. The only specific position to really produce great things this year has been at running back. Willis McGahee has run for 375 yards despite not getting the football nearly enough.

Holcomb, formerly of the Indianapolis Colts and Cleveland Browns, is most remembered for his performance for the Browns against the Pittsburgh Steelers in a 2002 wild card playoff game. The Browns lost the game 36-33 but Holcomb threw for 429 yards and three touchdowns. The Bills better hope for some of that magic on Sunday considering they are riding a three game losing streak and Miami is in first place in the AFC East at 2-1.
