He gets up after a nice nights rest in his many thousand dollar bed in his many more thousand dollar room in his many more million dollar home. Most likely he relieves himself in the very expensive toilet that resides in the beautiful bathroom that no doubt has lots of walk room, perfect tile and a tub that fits 5 and jets that blow bubbles at the strongest rate available. He probably no longer walks downstairs to the kitchen, but rather by the dog and into the kitchen that is brightly lit with beautiful sky lights.
Chances are, the coffee is already made, and he will reach into the refrigerator for some juice and what fruit is leftover. He will set it down at the wonderfully sheen hardwood table walk to where she stores the cinammon raisin bread and plop two slices into the toaster. He will pour his coffee and walk to the front door and lean down gingerly and pick up the Wall Street Journal, the New York Time and the Local Rag.
He will return to his coffee, and lightly and naughtily ever so slightly butter his toast, with real butter, while his mouth waters at the impending delight that is to be the best of the day yet to come.
He will don his glasses and sip his coffee, reading the papers, and begin the hour long process of evaluating his investment empire. He will spend the next 60 minutes with his stomach churning, wishing that the investment that were failing weren't and the ones that were booming made more. ("there really is never enough money you know").
After he reads he will decide if any calls need to be made...and after a while he will decide to change nothing, because after all, he is eating wonderful toast, sipping flavorfull coffee with his best friend and beautiful looking golden retriever "Buck".
He will decide to shower and walk back into the room, feeling a little bored and a little lost. He will think about his grandchildren and how much he loves them and he will make plans to do something with them today
.....As he leaves the shower he is reminded that his body is nothing the young man it was, and quickly and resignedly close his robes, turn on the water, and lather up for a nice shave. He will be meticulous as he brushes his teeth and puts everything back as it was before he started, turn the light off and exit the bathroom.
He will take some time to think about the appropriate attire for a day out at the great grandchildren's house and realize that they will see him as old, and that makes him sad...but he pushes on with the hope of a good day. After he dresses he will go out into the public and inevitably run into fans of his dreaded football team and be forced to provide daily pleasantries and the almost numbing words of high expectation...but all the while, wishing he would not have to deal with these things. "But there is a price to pay for all I have"...and almost immediately he remembers and returns to the dreaded form.
He finally meets up with his great grandchildren. He is politely acknowledged by his granddaughter...who'm he holds in high regard..for it's she that allows him to play with the kids. He hands her flowers which she graciously accepts, smiles and points to the children.
The children, dutilly walk to him as mom has instructed and he envelops himself in their hug .."this is all that matters"...and then, as if an old enemy has entered the room, the oldest asks him about Marshawn ...he courageously smiles but inside he's hurt. He's reminded again that this is the price to be paid.
