Dick Jauron’s recent comments about the Bills use of the no huddle are akin to taking a highlighter to the win-loss record on his Wikipedia page - just pointing out the incompetence. When Jauron makes statements like this the ignorance is simply mind numbing. While he states the ‘no huddle’ does not always equate to the ‘hurry up’, the Bills offense continues to look like it woke up late for a final exam. Based on his blind defense of the tactic, should we expect it to still be in practice if by some miracle the Bills find themselves up by two TD’s with four minutes remaining in a game this season?

A long time ago a boss taught me, 'learn to do it well, then learn to do it fast'. Trent clearly is no longer in command, and seems to be learning how to do nothing very fast. Once praised for his quick reads and good decisions, he seems to be catching the same ailment that afflicted JP Losman. While his lack of arm strength could always be argued, few could find fault with the majority of Trent’s passing choices and the speed with which he made them. But now that all seems lost, I wonder why?

Any idiot who picks up a PS3 controller quickly realizes how fast the play clock expires in Madden NFL when you are trying to decide on a play, get your fellow players ready, and look over the defense. And that’s without the fear of losing your life or limb to a 300+ pound psychotic who is rewarded handsomely for the damage he can inflict on you. Trent is clearly not ready to do this, nor in his third season on this dysfunctional team should he be asked to.

The other side of the coin is even more glaringly obvious, these Bills are gaining nothing by using the no huddle!

Even in the preseason with vanilla defenses the use of the no huddle has produced zero TD’s from the first string offense against first string defenses. Where are all the benefits of catching opposing defenses off guard? This brilliant scheme that is supposed to tire opposing defenses seems poised to do nothing more than tire the Bills own defense.

If we have learned nothing from Dick Jauron’s tenure as head coach of the Bills, it is that he is not a master at developing productive offensive schemes. Coupling that ineptitude with this new confusion enhancing wrinkle seems like a perfect recipe to earn the Bills a vacation in January.
