Remember ‘HOPE’?? T.O. was signed and this would definitely open up the passing game. Lee Evans would now be free to make plays because surely Owens would draw a double team. Josh Reed and the Derek’s would also be a force. The Bills passing game was going to be impressive.

The Offense would have balance. Not only would the passing game improve but the running game would be even better. Marshawn and Freddie…. They would be one of the league’s most impressive tandems.

This was the year for Trent to shine. He was a smart, fundamentally sound quarterback who was going to mature into a respected leader. He had weapons in the passing and running game.

The Special Teams were good already. The team’s strength for the last few years. They could take their rightful role as being just another dimension for a well rounded, balanced team.

The Defense would improve. Poz finally healed and ready to make a name for himself in the middle. Impressive corners who would force turnovers. The promise of an eager, young rookie named Maybin who would disrupt the oppostion's passing game.

I was hopeful. I was so hopeful…

What a shock week 1 was. The Buffalo Bills actually led the dominant New England Patriots until the last 2 minutes. They only lost the game by 1 point!! They could play with the big boys.

I lost all hope for this team today. I realized that for the past 4 weeks, I’d seen the same game over and over. A solid defensive effort. Agonizing Special Team mistakes. Minimal Offense. A decent running effort but no passing game. No touchdowns. More injuries. Shocking penalties again and again adding up to another loss.

I see no hope for this year’s Bills team. Do any of you?

Trent will remain at quarterback. Dick isn’t one to make changes despite the fact that a change at QB could not possibly be worse. Could it?

Can a season really be over in week 5? I never believed that before. I believe it now.
