The Reality of being a Bills fan!!!

Yes, it has been a tortuous 10 year span of futility with very few moments’ joy and much much more moments of anguish.


So let’s ask ourselves why do we keep coming back for more heartache? Why Why Why, it is hard to explain to a non Bills fan why we subject ourselves to such awful results year after year. Do we not know any better? Are we just complacent and hate change? Are we masochist and love the agony of defeat? What is it that makes us such blind loyal followers?


For me it is easy, I’m 54 years old the Bills have been around for 50 years I know no better. At least I can remember all the peaks and valleys. I’ve been through all the rebuilding modes and understand there is always a light at the end of the tunnel and a reason for hope. I must admit the Bills have been in a downward thrust for so long that I don’t know how the newer members of Bills nation stay tuned on a regular basis but they do.


I’ve always said we are what we are, we might bitch and moan but we always come back for more. There will always be the naysayers, hell they are around even during the winning times so it is normal. The naysayers always have better ways to run the team or know more than the coaches, players and management. The naysayers keep us blind followers on our toes because; when they are on their rip an tear mode we balance out their negatives with our positives. We get exhausted with each others views but in reality we need each other!!


Reasons we are Bills fans:

1) We were born and raised in Buffalo
2) Either your main team to follow is the Bills or Sabres
3) Never forget the good Ole Days with Kemp, OJ and of course the SB run
4) We are a relative to Ralph Wilson and have season tickets for life
5) Their colors of Red, White and Blue are America—can you repeat USA USA USA
6) We just love football doesn’t matter if they are good or not
7) There is nothing to do after October
8) To get rid of your logo tattoo would be too painful
9) You’re on Prozac and find humor in the games
10) We just know the Bills will turn it around and be relevant again


My daughters age 24 & 21 and are both loyal Bills fans even though they were basically raised in Florida. I’ve felt that I have passed the torch to the next generation and give myself a pat on the head.

Being a Bills fan is like a marriage we are in it through thick & thin-- better or worst and will always honor our vows…..errrrrr I mean loyalty to our beloved Bills.
