The Dawning of a New Era…

The 2010 training camp opens today and it starts a new era in Buffalo Bills history. I know we have been hearing the same thing for the past decade but this time it is different. The front office now has good football people running the show with Nix and Whaley. Say all the negatives you want, but Gailey has a successful resume with a overall 86-55 record as a Head Coach at different levels. He has worked with QB’s with limited talent and has made them productive. In the recent past the Bills have given Head Coaching jobs to newbie’s Greg Williams and Mike Mularky with horrible results. Then turned to Dick Jauron who turned out to be the same type of coach he was a Chicago---mediocre at best! There won’t be an instantaneous turn around but the foundation is being layed for the future…

Major questions & concerns for the coaching staff;

1) Can they make Trent into a competent QB while they continue to search for a difference maker?
2) Is Maybin the answer as a pass rusher or is he a bust. If he shows progress and can put up 5-6 sacks he will be on his way to a productive career
3) 3-4 or a 4-3 they will use both defenses, they need Kyle Williams on the field.
4) How will they work Spiller the Thriller into the offense?
5) The perennial question who will be the #2 WR?
6) Can the offensive line jell? The perennial question, who is going to play LT?
7) Will the Special teams suffer without Bobby April?
8) How much will the new strength & conditioning coaches affect team performance?
9) Can the talented secondary go from the Tampa 2 (soft coverage) to a tighter more aggressive style of play?
10) How long will it take the offense and defense to adapt to the new
schemes to start being competitive?

It’s a new dawn when optimism runs high! There will be plenty of highs and lows as the Bills strive to be relevant again. They are finally in good hands and the sky is the limit but we have to be patient as the changes take affect…
