I've always heard and believed that Pre-season doesn't mean anything. It's really for players trying to make the team. It's tryouts for the few roster spots that haven't been filled.

I fear that this long held belief of mine doesn't apply to the Buffalo Bills.

What if these next few games are really a Preview of the season to come?

I saw NOTHING in Friday night's pre-season opener against the Redskins that gave me any hope for the upcoming season.

I looked really hard too. I wanted to find one bright spot. Something inspiring to hang on to.

The only hope I could muster was in knowing that some of the starters weren't in the game.

But when they play, can it possibly make that much of a difference?

I'm afraid...very afraid....

Last year I enjoyed every yard Freddie Jackson gained, every interception that Jairus Byrd made (before his injury)....but I didn't enjoy the play of the team.

It is only pre-season but this team looks as bad as any I've seen take the field.

I love surprises. Maybe the Bills will come out week one and defeat the Miami Dolphins.

Maybe they'll play solid, smash-mouth football and impose their will against their divisional opponent.

Maybe they'll have 400 yards of total offense.....or maybe....just maybe....they'll break the hearts of Bills fans one more time before the lockout.
