What is a Pre-season victory worth?

In the realm of things a victory in pre-season means nothing-squat-zip-zero and goes into the “Who gives a crap file”. But for the Bills and their fans it gives them a ray of hope for the future that the Bills can put together 4 quarters of good football. We are trying desperately to cling to something or anything positive. As Amir stated victories bring confidence so we will take a win whether it is pre-season or not.

There were some positive moments in the Colts game, Spiller the Thriller, Trent’s play, the defense causing 4 turnovers, a beautiful INT by McGee that he returned for a TD and the hustle on the play by other Bills that escorted him to pay dirt. Also, RB Bell seems to be a diamond in the rough and has been productive since the 1st day of training camp. We are looking at the future backfield for the Bills and reminds me of when Thurman had Kenny Davis backing him up. Pay attention to the WR’s on running plays that all block which is key to having a strong running attack. There is no clear cut #2 yet but they play with enthusiasm and are willing to throw their bodies at defenders.

Of course the black cloud seems to hover over the Bills like “White to Rice” injuries continue to mount and last week there was the TE Shawn Nelson that the Bills were counting on as a weapon getting suspended for 4 games—ouch!!!

The Bills are not going to the playoffs this year; if they do I’ll eat my HAT!!!! But we have to see signs that the team is building a winner and not going into the ABYSS of a perennial 3-13 team.

The Bengals are coming up next week will we continue to see improvement---lets hope so but with so many young players the season might end up as a roller coaster ride. 1 good game 1 bad game etc etc with no consistency. The consistent factor has to be that they play hard and don’t beat themselves. That have to make the other teams beat them and to let them know that they will have play their best to beat the Bills. If we see this then we know the Bills are on their way back!!!!
