I remember talking to an older man at Applebee's once about the NFL. It was about 10 years ago and I was such a sweet, young, enthusiastic fan. He told me that he used to loving watching the NFL but he had to quit because of the toll it was taking on his health.

I did not understand that. I asked him if he missed it and he said, 'Sure...but I was getting chest pains. I'd rather live than die watching football.''s 10 years later. I've been a fan of the Cowboys for 17 years. The first years were a blast. They dominated. They won a Super Bowl the '95 season.

The last few years, I don't enjoy the Cowboys games at all until they're over. My stomach is in a knot and I expect them to lose every game. (This year they've come pretty close to doing that!)

My backup team was the Buffalo Bills. They were easy to watch, win or lose...because I usually had a Cowboys victory to soften a Bills loss.

This year everything changed for me because of Ryan Fitzpatrick. I wasn't an NFL fan until the '94 season so I missed
the 'Kelly years'.

The only Bills quarterback and team I really loved were the ones led by Doug Flutie.

Fitzy has won my heart. I love this Buffalo Bills team. Each week, I'm in awe at how hard they play, no matter who the opponent might be.

Fitzy is my favorite new QB. I can't remember seeing anyone like him. He's fearless. He can throw a pick and then with his next possession throw a 60 yard touchdown while his demeanor never changes. He NEVER looks afraid or confused. He's always calm. He'll do anything to win. He never gives up.

I've enjoyed every game that he's quarterbacked this season...but today was hard on me. I REALLY wanted this team to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers. I wanted it for Fitzy, for the players, for the Coaches and for the fans.

They won the game with that Stevie Johnson TD catch....for a split second.....they won!!! BUT.....time didn't stop.....Stevie dropped the ball.

Stevie dropped the ball.....

I always hear that it isn't 'one play' that costs a team a game. I know in reality that that is true. But C'mon....we all know that if Stevie had held on, the Bills would be heroes, if only for tonight.

Alas, Stevie dropped the ball.........

No Bills loss has upset me this much since the 'Music City Nightmare'.

I've heard that a woman forgets the agony of labor and is able to have more children.

I NEVER forget a painful loss. The losses that I vividly remember to this day are: The UK Wildcats loss in the elite 8 to North Carolina, The Broncos loss in the playoffs to Jacksonville the year before their first Super Bowl victory, The Music City Nightmare, The Vikings loss to New Orleans in the NFC championship game last year and today's Bills loss to the Steelers.......

It will definitely leave a mark.....I'll remember how I cried until I couldn't cry anymore and how I sat in front of Bilz' house unable to get out of my car because I was just completely numb and broken.....

Don't think for a second that I don't tell myself, 'It's just a game!!! It doesn't matter!!!! Are you kidding me?? Snap out of it! It's just a game!!!!!'

That reasoning never works.

As I've always said, if you're going to love something so much, you have to bear the pain as well as the joy.

Sometimes I wish I didn't care so much........
