Buffalobills.com visitors selected running back Willis McGahee as the Tops Game Ball of the Week winner for his performance against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Jan. 2. McGahee rushed for 79 yards to give him 1,128 on the year, placing him second on the yardage list for Bills first-year running backs (Joe Cribbs, 1,185 yards in 1980). Also, with a pair of touchdowns against the Steelers, McGahee became only the second Bill to register 5+ multi-TD games in a season. His 13 rushing touchdowns in 2004 tie him for second on the Bills all-time list (O.J. Simpson, 16, 1975).

Question: How was your first year with the Bills?

Willis McGahee: My first year with the Bills was pretty good. Last year I was watching them play. It wasn't really much (in 2003) but you learn from watching.

Q: Was it fun to play again?

WM: It was fun because it was a long time waiting. I learned (by watching) that I wanted to go out there and play more.

Q: What are you off-season plans?

WM: I'm going to take it easy and get some rest and then come back in time for me to go out there and start doing what I've been doing.

Q: How much credit do you take for the team's turnaround?

WM: Not much, it was a team thing. I provided a little spark and everybody started making plays. The defense was playing good all year and it was time for the offense to step it up.

Q: How important is it that you surpassed 1,000 yards rushing?

WM: It just means that the O-Line, the team and the organization had faith in me. They believed that I could come in and do it.
