Kelly Holcomb seems to be settling in nicely in his new town. The recent addition the Buffalo Bills roster is picking up the offense quickly and is comfortable with his a role as a backup and mentor to J.P. Losman. According to the 31-year-old veteran, the Bills offensive scheme is similar to what he ran in Cleveland. He also intimated that he is happy to play for a team that is up and coming, as opposed to a Cleveland Browns squad that had only one winning season in the past nine years.

Kelly Holcomb is used to dealing with quarterback controversies because of his experience sharing time with Tim Couch over in Cleveland, but it is unlikely that such a controversy will unfold in Buffalo. J.P. Losman, a first round draft pick for the Buffalo Bills a year ago, has been groomed for the starting position. Barring injury to Losman, Holcomb will be firmly entrenched as the backup quarterback. He should prove to be an adequate replacement if he is called to duty this upcoming season.

Holcomb enjoyed his best NFL season back in 2003. He started eight games, throwing 10 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. His career numbers are less than gaudy (77.6 career QB rating), but his grit and experience make him one of the top 5-10 backups in the league at this point.
