Pro Bowl cornerback Nate Clements of the Buffalo Bills has openly discussed his plans for negotiating his contract renewal next year with an especially hefty price tag attached to his services.

After the end of the 2005-2006 NFL season, Clements will become a free agent. With a strong initiative, Clements and his agent Todd France have already held preliminary discussions with the Buffalo Bills in an attempt to reach a deal before this season even begins. If the deal is not struck by the commencement of the Bill's season opener against the Texans on Sept. 11 then both sides have agreed to leave the issue mute until after the season ends.

Drafted from Ohio Sate in the first round of 2001, Nate Clements is to be considered one of the NFL's top shutdown corners. Last year, Clements ended the season by matching his career high of six interceptions and set a new career-high with four forced fumbles. Over his four year NFL career, Clements has snagged 18 interceptions, four of which were returned for touchdowns. Clements has also proven himself to be a threat as a punt-returner with four touchdowns returns. He is the only Buffalo Bills player ever to lead the team in interceptions in four consecutive seasons.
