In wake of RB Travis Henry's hamstring injury, the Broncos signed veteran back Michael Pittman to a one-year contract Tuesday.

Henry tweaked his hamstring while running a 100-yard sprint during organized team activities earlier in May. He is expected to return, but Pittman will challenge him for carries this season.

Commentary: Henry battled a suspension for a failed drug test that cost him several games last season, and he still had knee injuries that forced him out of action after leading the NFL in rushing for the first month. When Henry recovers, he'll have to ward off not only Pittman, but also Selvin Young, Andre Hall and rookie Ryan Torain for time in the Broncos' backfield.

Fantasy Impact: The Broncos ran the ball with less success than they have in several years during 2007. Their 7-9 finish, even with the anticipation of a Jay Cutler breakout season, suggests they will want to get back to the dominant zone-blocking running game that made them into one of the most successful AFC teams over the past seven years. It looks like it will be a run-by-committee approach, though.
