Just days after separating his shoulder trying to make a tackle on Miami Dolphins RB Ronnie Brown, Denver Broncos CB Champ Bailey has announced that he plans to play on Sunday when the Broncos host the San Diego Chargers. Apparently, Bailey is focused in on contributing to his team when they face off in their first AFC West contest of the season.

Bailey practiced with pads yesterday and proclaimed to the media that if he could practice in pads during the week he could definitely play on Sunday. However, it is unclear at this point whether or not the Pro Bowl caliber cornerback will start, much less if he will be effective.

Champ Bailey has started in every single regular season game of his career. He entered the league in 1999 and has averaged roughly 70 tackles, four interceptions, and 12 passes defended in each of his NFL seasons. Bailey came over to the Denver Broncos after the 2003 campaign in a blockbuster trade that sent RB Clinton Portis to the Washington Redskins.
