The thread on Broncos Country, a Denver-based fan forum, titled "Roger Goodell is an IDIOT", is certainly attention-grabbing.

Is it the true reflection of what Broncos fans feel over wide receiver Brandon Marshall's two-game suspension (and a third game if he doesn't agree to undergo counseling)? Maybe not, but the inflammatory rhetoric spewed from Marshall's attorney, Harvey Steinberg, is going to foster that opinion at least somewhat.

"It just shows you what a class organization that we're dealing with that Mr. Marshall and his attorney find out about this as the result of a press release," Steinberg told the Denver Post. "The league appears to be more concerned about its image than treating its players with dignity and respect. The best part of this is we get to appeal this suspension to the very commissioner who chose to suspend him in this fashion."

The thread was put up on Broncos Country not long after the suspension was announced (and, apparently, Steinberg received a press release making the announcement). Marshall has been on the wrong side of the law several times in the past year, including a domestic abuse charge and arrest March 6 in Atlanta. He has a DUI charge still waiting for trial.

While Broncos fans are understandably frustrated with the loss of their best receiver for two divisional games (San Diego and Oakland) and potentially a third contests versus New Orleans, some are questioning the precedent this sets.

"...this is a slippery slope the Commish is treading...all he is helping with this suspension is the would be blackmailers."

A few posters are comparing this to Goodell's recent decision to not suspend Bills running back Marshawn Lynch for his involvement in a hit-and-run incident in the spring. Lynch was supposedly the driver of a car that struck a woman on a Buffalo street, and subsequently fled the scene.

"i dont care if it was only his first incident, he hit someone with his car and fled the scene that is serious, period. would you be that dismissive if that woman were a member of your family?? i think not."

The poster didn't shed any light on what the family of the woman Marshall is accused of abusing might be willing to dismiss, but one poster preached an attitude of tough love.

"Brandon needs his butt kicked. Sorry, but it's the truth. If this prevents Brandon from doing stupid things in the future it is well worth it."
