According to ESPN.com, The Denver Broncos have signed tight end Stephen Alexander. The TE is expected to sign a 3 year, $4.2 million contract.

In 2004, Alexander finished with 41 receptions for 377 yards and 1 touchdown in 16 games with the Detroit Lions.

The 6'4", 250 lbs. Alexander began his career in 1998 with the Washington Redskins. The former Oklahoma Sooner then went on to play professionally for the San Diego Chargers in 2002 before joining the Lions last year. In his 7 years as a pro, Alexander has caught 208 passes for 2,189 yards and 11 TDs in 86 games.

Denver recently retained TE Jeb Putzier, matching the 5 year, $12.5 million restricted free-agent offer sheet the 3 year veteran signed with the New York Jets.
