Broncos sign Ron Dayne, re-sign Monsanto Pope

The Denver Broncos signed former New York Giants running back Ron Dayne, and re-signed defensive tackle Monsanto Pope. Dayne was signed to replace Reuben Droughns, who was traded to the Cleveland Browns.

The 5'10", 245 lbs. Dayne had 52 carries for 179 yards and 1 touchdown 14 games during 2004. The former Heisman Trophy winner from the University of Wisconsin has run 585 times for 2,067 yards and 16 TDs.

The 6'3", 300 lbs. Pope played 16 games in 2004, registering 24 tackles, 1 sack, and 1 deflected pass. The ex-University of Virginia DT has played 3 seasons in Denver as a pro, accumulating 59 tackles, 6 sacks, 3 passes defended, and 1 forced fumble.
