For the second time in two seasons, the Denver Broncos cut problematic punter Todd Sauerbrun. Last year it was for running afoul of the NFL's banned substance rule (he used an illegal dietary supplement). This year it may have been connected with a pending court hearing on an assault charge. Sauerbrun had been averaging 46.8 yards per punt this season.

Commentary: Sauerbrun has proved to be a problem with too many teams around the league and this time his luck ran out with Denver. Earlier in Sauerbrun's career, Carolina cut him loose after a drunk driving arrest.

Fantasy Football Impact: Paul Ernster is going to replace Sauerbrun on the Denver roster, but the switch will probably be negligible considering the sorry state of the Denver special teams. Don't forget, the Broncos had two kicks run back against them, including a punt, by the Bears' Devin Hester a few weeks back.
