In hopes of rebuilding their porous secondary, the Denver Broncos have agreed to terms with one of their three 3rd round selections in this year's draft, Domonique Foxworth. Terms of the deal include a $430,000 signing bonus, which is added to the minimum base salary for the next three seasons and adds up to $1.355 million over the next three seasons.

The 5-foot-10 178 pound Foxworth was chosen 97th overall in the draft out of the University of Maryland, where he was a three year starter and defensive standout for the Terps. He finished his college Maryland Terps career with 142 tackles, 8 interceptions, and 31 passes defended in 40 games (all starts).

Foxworth was the third of three cornerbacks selected by the Broncos, along with 2nd round pick Darrent Williams of Oklahoma State and one of their earlier selections in the third round, Karl Paymah out of Washington State. The Denver Broncos other 3rd rounder was highly controversial former Ohio State running back Maurice Clarett. All three of the aforementioned picks remain unsigned as of Thursday.

The Broncos are hoping Foxworth and the other two cornerback choices pan out better than previous ones in the Mike Shanahan era. Of the eight corners selected from 1995-2004, only two are on the Broncos current roster. Denver's pass defense was ranked as one of the worst in the league in 2004. In addition to playing cornerback, Foxworth is also expected to play a key role on special teams as a kick return specialist.
