Browns tight end Kellen Winslow II was released from a Cleveland-area hospital Sunday afternoon and, according to the Cleveland Plain-Dealer, he is doubtful for Monday night's game against the Giants.

NFL.com's Adam Schefter reports Winslow will not play. Winslow was reported to have woken up Oct. 8 not feeling well, and he checked into the Cleveland Clinic Oct. 9, where he stayed three days.

Commentary: So what does he have?

That remains something of a mystery, but with a player possessing such a checkered past regarding injuries, rest assured that the media will be looking into it. One immediate thought would be some sort of staph infection, considering several Browns players -- including wide receiver Joe Jurevicius and former center LeCharles Bentley -- have contracted the virus recently.

Regardless, it doesn't appear the Browns will have Winslow as an outlet receiver against a fierce Giants pass rush. TE Steve Heiden will get the start over Winslow, and will be counted on heavily by quarterback Derek Anderson. Without Winslow, the Giants are going to come after Anderson with multiple blitzers on each passing down.

The good news for the Browns is they are getting WR Donte' Stallworth back for the first time this season. Will it matter?

Fan Pulse: Browns fans posting on the Browns Board have been monitoring Winslow's situation since the story broke Oct. 10.

Fantasy Football Impact: Winslow's 19 catches, 170 yards and one touchdown aren't exactly setting the fantasy world on fire as it is, but this is a game you'd probably be better off sitting him. Winslow's tough, though, so look for him to be back in the lineup in Week 7.

Injury Watch: Right tackle Kevin Shaffer and defensive end Shaun Smith are both listed as doubtful for the Browns.
