CLEVELAND, Ohio - Despite guiding the defense of the New England Patriots' 3 Super Bowl championship teams, new Cleveland Browns coach Romeo Crennel obviously paid attention to the team's offense. The Browns dipped into the free agent pool, signing former Patriots guard Joe Andruzzi to a 4 year contract. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Andruzzi, who was signed by New England as a free agent in September 2000, was a key member of the Patriots' offensive line, starting all 16 games during each of the team's Super Bowl championship seasons. He will be reunited with Crennel, who had been New England's defensive coordinator since 2001. "Joe is a tough, hard-nosed, blue-collar football player who started every game for the Patriots last season," Crennel said. "He gives us flexibility by being able to play both left and right guard and he will add stability to our offensive line. Aside from Joe's contributions on the football field, he will be an asset to the Cleveland community."

The 29-year-old Andruzzi began his career with Green Bay after signing as an undrafted rookie in April 1997. He was inactive for the Packers' entire 1997 season but appeared in 23 games over the next two years before joining the Patriots.
