You wouldn't expect a 6-4 team to have the worst-ranked defense in the NFL, but you also wouldn't expect the Cleveland Browns to be 6-4.

As New England rolls through the league and Miami flops like a fish out of water, the normally comatose Browns are quietly alive and well.

Led by the tremendous play of third-year quarterback Derek Anderson and the highlight-reel catches of Braylon Edwards, the Browns find themselves second in the AFC North and one game out of a wild-card spot. Not since the days of Bernie Kosar have Browns fans had so much to cheer about.

Cleveland faces the 5-5 Houston Texans in Week 12, and it doesn't get much harder from there. With their final six opponents at .500 or below, not to mention the Browns flying high after a miraculous win in Baltimore, Cleveland finds itself in serious playoff contention for the first time since 2002.

Additionally, Cleveland may have finally found its QB of the future in Anderson, who is averaging just under 250 yards a game through the air and has thrown 20 touchdown against nine interceptions.

Part of Anderson's success has to be attributed to the phenomenal play of Edwards, a fellow third-year player. Tied for second (with T.J. Houshmandzadeh) behind the Patriots' Randy Moss in receiving touchdowns this season (10) and on his way to over 1,000 yards through the air, Edwards, a 2005 first-round pick from Michigan, has finally lived up to the hype he entered the league with and has all but punched his ticket to Honolulu.

The Anderson-Edwards connection looks to be the beginning of a real resurgence in Cleveland, and while these "dawgs" might just be pups, they could be running with the elite soon. A triumph this weekend would already give the Browns seven wins, their most since '02 (nine), which was the team's last playoff season.
