Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan forum The Captain's Deck recently weighed in on the team's decision to re-sign TE Jerramy Stevens. The fans' general reaction was perhaps a little different than what some may have expected.

It was optimistic.

Stevens has been involved in several criminal complaints, as the Seattle Times pointed out in a scathing feature piece on the former Seahawk back in January. Pat Yasinskas of ESPN's Hashmarks blog pointed out "the move didn't really seem to register with the fan base or the media" until St. Petersburg Times columnist John Romano tore into the Bucs and Stevens in Monday's edition.

On the Captain's Deck, as of Wednesday morning, the opinion seemed to be more satisfaction with the release of QB Bruce Gradkowski than the re-signing of Stevens.

One poster questioned the move, but his issue was mainly with an apparent glut of tight ends on the roster.

"I agree that Bruce wasn't going to cut it, but at the same time, why are we bringing back Stevens? He is a weapon but off the field issues typically trump skill, especially considering we have like 467 TEs on the roster right now."

Another fan mentioned the value Stevens brings.

"Stevens is a weapon...he proved that a few times last year."
