The NFL announced Wednesday that Buccaneers TE Jerramy Stevens will be suspended for the first two games of the 2008 season and docked an additional game check for failing to comply with the league's substance-abuse policy.

Any further violation of the policy between now and the games he'll miss would increase the suspension, the league added.

Stevens was given a contract extension recently with the Bucs after coming on strong for the team down the stretch in 2007.

Commentary: Stevens has a laundry list of off-the-field issues and accusations dating all the way back to his college days at the University of Washington. This shouldn't come as much of a surprise to anyone who has followed his career.

Fantasy Impact: Stevens had four touchdown catches in his final four games with the team in 2007, and he could have been a sleeper nomination for a top TE performer in 2008. He'll miss two games, which should be enough to bury him deep in fantasy drafts.
