Buccaneers sign Chris Hovan

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed defensive tackle Chris Hovan. He is expected to be a significant contributor in defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin's 4-3 scheme.

The 6'2", 296 lbs. Hovan had 20 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 1 deflected pass, and 1 fumble recovery in 2004.

The Boston College product was selected in the first round of the 2000 NFL draft by the Minnesota Vikings. Hovan has played in 77 games over the last 5 years, making 70 starts. He has recorded 188 tackles, 17 sacks, 11 passes defended, 2 forced fumbles and 4 fumble recoveries.

The Buccaneers also re-signed safety Dexter Jackson. He had signed with the Bucs last year after disappointing as a free agent with the Arizona Cardinals.
