Kurt Warner has been named the Arizona Cardinals' new starting quarterback. Cardinals coach Dennis Green said he spoke with Warner, Josh McCown and second-year QB John Navarre on Wednesday morning. McCown, entering his fourth NFL season, will be the backup, with Navarre at No. 3.

Green said he saw enough in early workouts to make his decision, even though training camp doesn't start for another 2 months. Warner, who signed a 1 year, $4 million deal with the club earlier this offseason, will turn 34 next month. The 7 year veteran had expected to start, but Green had stated he would have to compete with McCown - a 3 year pro - for the job.

Warner signed with the New York Giants last year to compete with Eli Manning, the first pick in the 2004 draft. He started the Giants' first 9 games but was replaced by Manning after a loss to the Cardinals.
