NFL Europe has paid off for at least one player. The Arizona Cardinals have signed linebacker Greg Carothers to a one year deal based on his outstanding performance in NFL Europe this spring. The former University of Washington standout recorded 58 tackles, 2 forced fumbles, and an interception for the league champion Amsterdam Admirals.

Greg Carothers starred for the University of Washington Huskies before signing a free agent contract with the San Francisco 49ers last summer. He worked with the team through training camp, but was cut on August 29th. At 6'2'' Carothers is a bit smaller than the prototypical NFL linebacker, but he makes up with it with a level of quickness and agility that allowed him to play the safety position at times when he was still in college. The Arizona Cardinals are counting on utilizing those traits this upcoming season.
