The Chargers signed first-round cornerback Antoine Cason to a five-year, $12 million contract.

It is the largest contract ever given to a University of Arizona rookie NFL player. He will look to win the nickel CB position with the Chargers this season.

Commentary: Some reports said Cason was brought in specifically to handle New England slot receiver Wes Welker. Cason's size and quickness will be a benefit in that battle.

Fantasy Impact: Cason will help bolster a deep corner position in San Diego. Antonio Cromartie had a breakout season in 2007, and the Chargers' defense should return as strong as ever.
