Antonio Gates is poised to return to the field for the San Diego Chargers. Gates is coming off a three game suspension that forced him to miss the team's last two preseason games and their week 1 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. The suspension was the result of a roster deadline infraction.

Remember that Gates was holding out for a long-term contract during the preseason. He tried to return to the Chargers in time avoid the roster deadline infraction, but reportedly could not find a flight into San Diego and was unable to get into camp on time.

Antonio Gates was an integral part of the San Diego Chargers offensive success last season. He caught 81 passes for just under 1000 yards and hauled in an uncanny 13 touchdown receptions. Gates will see his first regular season action on Sunday when the Chargers visit the Denver Broncos.
