San Diego Chargers management announced the release of quarterback A.J. Feeley on Monday. Feeley was slated to backup first-year starter Philip Rivers, a position which is now in the hands of rookie Charlie Whitehurst.

Of the three remaining Chargers quarterbacks - Rivers, Whitehurst and undrafted rookie Brett Elliot of Utah - Rivers has the lone NFL experience, none of which is experience as a starter.

Feeley, who was obtained on Oct. 18 of last year as a third-string quarterback, never took a snap as a Charger.
