In their campaign to trim down the team roster to the required 53, the San Diego Chargers made a couple of interesting decisions along with some expected ones.

Among the cuts, special teams standout and 2005 Pro Bowler Hanik Milligan. Also released was rookie QB Brett Elliot, leaving the Bolts with only two signal callers on the roster - first-year starter Philip Rivers and rookie Charlie Whitehurst.

Other cuts were running backs Tyronne Gross, Ray Perkins and Larry Croom, wide receivers Ricky Bryant and Robert Ortiz, tight end Kelly Griffeth, offensive linemen Ben Johnson, Jeromey Clary, Nick Mihlhauser and Wes Sims, fullback Jonathan Evans, linebackers Akbar Gbaja-Biamila and Jonathan Pollard, defensive backs Steve Gregory, Andre Lott and Mitch Meeuwsen, and defensive linemen Alvin Smith, Brandon McKinney and Chase Page.
