The Kansas City Chiefs on re-signed Peterson to a 4 year extension that runs through 2009.

Peterson became the Chiefs' general manager in December 1988. The Chiefs have hired just 3 coaches in his 16 years. Kansas City has finished first or second in the AFC West 11 times with 8 playoff appearances in that same time frame. Chiefs owner Lamar Hunt praised his top executive in announcing the deal.

Kansas City has sold out 117 consecutive games at Arrowhead Stadium, which dates back to the team's 1991 season opener.

Peterson served as personnel director for the Philadelphia Eagles in 1980, helping coach Dick Vermeil reach the Super Bowl.
