On Sunday, the Kansas City Chiefs and cornerback Ty Law agreed to a five-year, $30 million contract pending a physical.

Realfootball365.com was the first to report that Law to the Chiefs was on the verge of taking place, and the Pro Bowler came through, becoming the newest member of an already-talented Chiefs team.

Law will join fellow veteran Patrick Surtain on the outside, forming one of the most experienced and proven tandems in the NFL. Surtain was solid for Kansas City last season, but it was clear that he could have used another dependable corner to take some pressure off him. Luckily for the 30-year-old, he's found that partner in Law.

After an injury-plagued 2004 campaign with the Patriots, Law was released and eventually signed a three-year, $23 million contract with the New York Jets. In his first and only year in the "Big Apple," Law starred, picking off 10 passes, and finishing tied with Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Deltha O'Neal for the league lead. The 5-11, 200-pound defensive back also notched 62 tackles.

The 11-year veteran has racked up 696 tackles and 46 interceptions en route to earning All-Pro status, four Pro Bowl selections, and three Super Bowls in his illustrious career.

The Kansas City Chiefs are certainly hoping he puts their defense over the top in 2006 and beyond.
