Wide receiver Az-Zahir Hakim has finally signed with the Kansas City Chiefs. The speedy free agent and the team came to terms on a 1 year contract. Hakim will compete to take over the role of the recently-released Johnnie Morton.

The Detroit Lions had waived Hakim earlier this offseason. The WR now has the opportunity to rejoin head coach Dick Vermeil in Kansas City. Both men were part of the Super Bowl-winning squad 6 seasons ago with the St. Louis Rams.

The 5 foot 10 inch, 185 pound Hakim amassed 31 catches for 533 yards (17.2 yards per catch) and 3 touchdowns in 12 games during 2004.

The former San Diego State Aztec has been in the NFL since 1998, when he broke in with the Rams. He enjoyed his most productive seasons in St. Louis through the 2001 campaign. In 2002, Hakim joined the Detroit Lions. Overall, he has totalled 265 receptions for 3,555 yards and 26 TDs in 92 games over his 7 year career.
