Highly touted safety DeVonte Holloman of Charlotte, N.C., gave his solid verbal to Clemson on Monday. According to Rivals, the 6-foot-2, 213-pound prospect runs a 4.5-second 40, is currently rated at four stars and is listed in the Rivals100 for the 2009 class.

Clemson beat out Florida, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, North Carolina, N.C. State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, South Carolina, USC, Tennessee and Texas A&M.

Recruiting coordinator Billy Napier is credited as the primary for the Tigers.

COMMENTARY: The Holloman commitment comes less than two weeks after Clemson landed Craig "Poppa" Loston, a five-star safety from Aldine, Texas. The Tigers' 2009 class is shaping up extremely well with five four-star prospects and one five-star prospect. At this rate (barring any zero-hour de-commitments), it won't be a surprise to see Clemson netting a top-10 recruiting class during next year's National Signing Day.
