Last week, a main theme centering on Clemson’s offense was its supposed improved after the Tigers' blowout win over Duke. However, this past weekend's performance against Virginia in a 13-3 win showed that Clemson's 'O' still has a long way to go.

Clemson struggled to score against the nation’s 50th-ranked defense while being the recipient of four Cavalier turnovers. That doesn't bode well for the season finale against South Carolina, whose defense is 10th in the nation.

The Tigers on Saturday weren't helped by senior quarterback Cullen Harper, who passed for 121 yards and zero touchdowns. And that's not on the offensive line, which didn't allow any sacks.

Running back C.J. Spiller, who has been the one consistent positive all season, produced just 57 total yards (rushing, receiving and returning) and no scores.

Luckily for Clemson, its defense looked great and was able to last the entire game. But the Cavs’ offense is one of the worst in the nation, so this wasn’t exactly a good test for defensive coordinator Vic Koenning’s men.

Regarding this weekend's game, the Clemson-South Carolina rivalry has become a bit more heated since Steve Spurrier took over in Columbia. The combined score over the past three seasons is 64-61 in favor of Clemson, which shows how evenly matched these teams have been.

This time, though, given the distractions of a coaching search, not to mention a horribly disappointing offense, don't be surprised if Clemson is on the receiving end of a South Carolina blowout to close a forgettable 2008 campaign.
